I’m back! And so are the updates! I’m striving to stay 2 weeks ahead of schedule, hopefully I’ll be able to get even further at some point. I’m stressing quality over quantity, as this is a craft I’m trying to hone just as much as it is a story I’m trying to interpret.

I do apologise for the absence, but I’m feeling a lot more settled after all that was going on when I went on unofficial hiatus. I thank the fans who stuck with me, offered support and comments. I read each one and I’m in the process of going back and responding. Some were extremely touching and were part of the inspiration to get back into continuing the story- as I don’t see my being able to make a living off of this.

To quote a fellow comic artist: “I know the update “schedule” here drives some people nuts, but what can I say? I’m one person, and I’m doing my best. [...] My job as far as the comic is concerned is to put out pages and not kill myself while doing it, and like I’ve said before, I’m going to keep doing that until I can’t any more. If you’re going to get personally offended because I’m not keeping to a full-time job schedule that is actually totally fine with me and you have my blessing[...]”

This isn’t my IP so I have to basically support this project with my freelance art- along with supporting myself, paying bills and buying my Ramen noodles. Sounds dramatic, but it’s the way it is right now. Art is my job and as much as I’d love to just work on Animorphs all day, it doesn’t pay. That said, I’ve put up a new section on the site, incase you would like to help support the artist behind this fan project.

Hey everyone!

Thanks for the comments while I was away. In the past few months, I’ve dealt with my grandma having breast cancer, a horrible breakup of my relationship of 4 years, starting over my life again from scratch (getting a car, part time retail job, moving out), having my favourite horse at the barn I ride at be put down… Plus the normal day to day commissions, freelance and my main job of just doing art for a living.

I’m doing something new with the backgrounds, creating them in Google Sketchup, then touching them up in Photoshop. I’m also taking more time and putting more effort into the linework, character design and the whole “behind the scenes” comic process that you guys may not even think about I care a lot about making a good quality product that fans will like and that will draw non-Animorph fans in, so everyone will enjoy.

I apologise for the break, but I hope everyone understands I wouldn’t just stop the comic without a good reason!

Thanks for continuing to follow along. Your comments and encouragement always spur me on to continue growing as a comic artist and move forward on this journey.

Sorry again for the delay in the next page. Updating is getting really hard now that I’ve had to pick up a part time job that eats up 30 hours a week. I’m trying to get this page done piece by piece, but until I get into a balance between my freelance, PT job and the comic, updates may be more sporadic.

I don’t like missing updates or excuses, but I thought I’d compromise by at least offering a work in progress of the page I’m working on.

Sorry for the delay this week. With my freelance work, it’s getting harder and harder to fit time in for the comic.

Before a book about sparkly vampires was written, there was a song by Vanessa Carlton called “Twilight”. I remember listening to it in my CD player on repeat on the bus to school. I would replay a music video in my head featuring Tobias, showing his choices, life and daily struggle, as this song really seemed to embody it.

That was over a decade ago. I finally have the ability to start work on the music video I’ve thought up all that time ago. Here is the first animatic (rough storyboard to music):

Happy 4th to those in the States!

Talking to a friend, we were discussing how big Andalites were and since I don’t know if there’s ever been a proper size chart made, I figured I could take on the challenge. Pictured is an adult male human and Andalite.

So my computer bit the dust on Thursday and I had to wipe the harddrive and try to grab my files from my external HD and online backup. As it turns out, my external HD hadn’t been updated since the 9th page… Somehow, since that doesn’t seem right. But it’s all I have from my old pages, other than what’s online. Now my external HD is messed up too. Just not my week for computers.

Point being- sorry for the delay in getting this page up! The inking on these pages takes me a really long time for some reason and as you guys know, this is only a labour of love for me, so I have to balance this project with paying gigs.

Off again, on again!

Well, after some sound advice received from this year’s Heroes Con, I decided to simply move forward with the comic and updates. I feel that I will grow, learn and develop faster making new pages, moreso than simply redoing the old ones.

I’m glad you guys are so patient and willing to put up with my experimentation. I know you’ll always speak your mind and tell me what you think and I’m forever appreciative of that!
